I guess something I've wanted to write about for a while is writing. All of the writing I actually upload to dA isn't actually anything I really like, and the reason is because a part of me is actually concerned that someone will actually STEAL something of mine - unlikely, but it's a possibility I'd rather not face. I mean, if I'm going to write something, and maybe have other people read it, I'd like them to at least recognize it as my own words, not have someone else pawn it off as their own. So I'm hesitant to share that art form which is most dear to me... I'm worried about my photography and other things as well, but because they're not quite as important, I'm willing to risk it. That, and to a certain extent, I have the digital proof and such that they ARE mine, so haha to whomever feels they are wiley enough to get away with it. You will lose.
I guess maybe the oddest thing is that we actually care about what belongs to whom. What does it matter, if the idea is out there and it is appreciated? Why do our names have to be attached to what we've created? Credit is an odd thing to me, and because I believe in it, it seems even stranger. But that's really not what I'm trying to get at with this journal, at all. I tend to go wildly off topic.
So, in about a month, this really nifty thing starts, called National Novel Writing Month. I tried it a couple of years ago, and I'm going to try again. The goal is to start on the first of November, and get 50,000 words of a novel typed/written/whatever (?) by the end. You can't pen a single word until November starts, but you can brainstorm before then, you know, to try and come up with ideas and plots and storyline, etc. There's a website, it's kind of helpful with the history of the idea. It's just to get people to write, and to not worry about the details until they've actually got a good deal of writing to their name... it's fun, so I'll try it. I made it to around twenty thousand words last time, and for me, that was a lot. Really, you just do what makes you happy. It's a game that you play with yourself, and the prize is the accomplishment you make writing. It's the best kind of game for me, so that's why I thought I'd share it. Maybe someone else would really like this game as well.
And that's that.
